Concordia High School Band & Strings will join us to play in Worship Sunday, November 16, 9:30AM.

Concordia Lutheran Schools of Omaha, was established as an elementary school in 1995. It added a Jr.-Sr. High School in 2001 and has since grown to over 700 students in grades K-12. They operate three schools on one campus (K-5, 6-8, and 9-12) and are supported through an association of 17 LC-MS churches from the Omaha area. Two-thirds of the student body come from families holding membership in other area congregations. Some families do not currently have a church home.
Although relatively new, the school system has quickly gained a positive reputation in the community for their faith-based education as well as their strong academic program. The sports programs are competitive with other similar-size schools and the music program continues to grow in ability and reputation. Active musicians regularly make up about two-thirds of the student body.
The music program at CHS includes classes for Band, Choir, Strings, Music Tech, and Guitar but also has options for students in Handbells, Jazz Band, Drumline, and General Music. The school’s talented musicians in the Praise Band assist in leading chapel every week and the school performs a large musical theatre production every Spring (WIZARD OF OZ this year).
The High School Band at CHS includes 24 instrumentalists. The High School Strings are nine members (five on tour this year).  Both groups are often given Superior ratings at contests and several years ago, the groups took a tour with the Chorale to visit Germany.  The Band has been chosen to perform at the NE Music Education Association conference at the University of NE, Lincoln as well as at the state capitol in Lincoln.  The groups are touring this November in the Chicago area. We thank you for your hospitality and support of Concordia High School as we continue preparing students to be “Faith Secure. World Ready. Kingdom Leaders.
